007C now available with AS-interface® (V2.1) and DeviceNetTM

Both the AS-interface and DeviceNet protocols can be used to distribute, via a single cable, digital I/O in order to monitor inputs from valve position switches or sensors and control outputs to the solenoids that operate pneumatically actuated valves. In such applications the requirement for high-speed data transmission is not critical and the need to process significant amounts of data at each valve does not exist. The control function is on/off and the speed at which the related equipment operates is far slower than the electronic data transfer rate.

With an AS-interface or DeviceNet card fitted in the integrated 007C switch solenoid control centre the benefits of plant wide installation via a single cable can be extended to a wide range of linear or rotary valve types that are not always available as standard with this technology. For example: Ball, butterfly, plug, diaphragm, pinch and knife gate valves.

Stainless steel version of the 007 A3 Pneumatic Switchbox now available

007 A3 can now be certified for use in hazardous areas

The 007 A3 pneumatic switchbox is now available in both coated aluminium and stainless steel. It can also be certified for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. The product is certified in accordance with BS EN 13463-1:2002 'Non-electrical equipment for potentially explosive atmospheres - General Methods and Requirements' and BS EN 13463-5:2003 'Non-electrical equipment for potentially explosive atmospheres - Protection by Constructional Safety c’. The product is suitable for use in non-mining applications where an explosive atmosphere is likely to occur in normal service and is marked ATEX II 2 GDc 85oC (T6)

Compact 007C specified for major new pharmaceutical plant in Ireland

During the last few months more than 1000 units of the Compact 007C with piezotronic solenoids have been supplied for a new active pharmaceutical ingredient manufacturing facility in County Clare, Ireland. Used in conjunction with CEAG remote I/O systems the 007C’s have been fitted to both stainless steel and fully lined actuated ball valves.

Compact integrated Control Monitors replace separate switches and solenoids on valve actuators

New versions of the Compact 007C are now available

Development of double acting and double acting stayput versions of the new Compact 007C has recently been completed.

The main features and benefits of the Compact 007C:

  • Only one multi-core cable is required to connect each 007C to the control room.

  • The solenoid is protected from accidental damage in a robust IP66 enclosure.

  • The unit is particularly compact (the pilot valves are laid on their side and the control valve is under slung).

  • The 007C is compatible with most remote or conventional I/O systems and fieldbus valve couplers*.

  • Solenoids are manufactured by companies that have both global reach and an excellent reputation for quality and reliability.

  • The optional manual override is on the pilot valve so it cannot be tampered without deliberately removing the cover.

  • The CV of the control valve is 0.5 and the solenoid and control block are local to the actuator leading to faster operating times.

  • Single acting, double acting or double acting stay put versions are available.

  • Low profile visual indicators or indicators built into the mounting kit are available.

  • Enclosure design makes access for cam setting and terminal wiring very easy. Only two captive screws are used for the cover not four.

  • The client obtains a fully certified product. K Controls does not simply rely on the certification of the components in the unit.

  • The unit is EExia ATEX certified for use with potentially hazardous gasses and dusts.

  • The 007C has been widely specified and has an excellent track record on many different plants world-wide.

Linear valve actuators such as those used on control valves, globe valves, knife gate valves, or diaphragm valves, do not always conform to the standard mounting patterns defined in VDI/VDE 3845 and are not often supplied with a Namur solenoid interface. To bring all the benefits of the Compact 007C to linear actuators a number of different slotted drive levers are available:
